Liquefied natural gas is enormous opportunity for Kazakhstan industrial development, notable economic growth with minimal energy costs.
In 2012, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the Leader of the Nation N.A. Nazarbayev in his address underscored the importance of using the world innovation researches for the development of the country. The Head of the State made a point of need to focus on participation in the international projects. Such cooperation will make it possible to capture programs acceptable for application in Kazakhstan from the list of all the latest developments and give a good impetus for the development of the country’s future and energy in particular. Being a part of the global international researches and projects is the country's objective for the near future.
One of the most topical issues for Kazakhstan today is the deficit of modern energy sources. The statistics are as follows: less than 50% of the population today can use the natural gas. In this connection, the General Scheme of Gasification of the Republic of Kazakhstan, designed for 15 years (2015-2030) has been developed at the state level.
In 2015, at the Invest Forum took place in the capital of Kazakhstan, Global Gas Group presented a project on provision the public and private enterprises of Astana with cost effective and environmentally sound fuel. The benefits of the newest LNG technology underlying the project are as follows:
1. Financial framework. The construction of the gas pipeline requires serious financial investments. For example, for the gasification of Astana, including associated infrastructure, the costs will be at least $ 1 billion. Considering today's remoteness of the gas pipeline, delivery of the liquefied methane to the regasification station located in immediate neighborhood of the facility will cost significantly less.
Even today Global Gas Group’s organization of the municipal gas distribution system will significantly shorten the period of connection of end users to traditional gas service in the future. Thus, the gasification program in Astana, to be implemented by Global Gas Group by 2020, will ensure an early return of the state investments spent for the construction of the pipeline to the budget of the Republic.
2.Timeline. The project design and construction of the pipeline first, and then the municipal network of the pipelines require a lot of time. We add thereto the time spent on the documentation approval, and the time will significantly shift upward.
3. New format of fuel due to LNG technology provides a benefit of up to 30% of the budget savings unlike other commonly used fuel resources.
4. Uninterrupted supplies. The liquefied natural gas is transported in special tanksby road from the product liquefaction station to LNG regasification complex.
LNG technology allows creating considerable reserves required for realization of a large-scale project. In this regard, the project provides for construction of the LNG storage tanks with a capacity of 25 thousand tons at 50-80 km from urban area. It is planned that the gas, besides the well-functioning motor transport low-tonnage logistics, after commissioning the storage complexes, will be transported by railway.
5.Ecology. The natural gas use does not cause a harmful mechanical waste (slag) and emissions into the atmosphere. This issue is especially up to date to Astana, because the smog over the city generated at concentration of the combustion products, significantly deteriorate the ecological situation in the city.
Opening of Turan regazification complex of liquefied natural gas in Astana evokes a response among energy experts in the whole world.
The main benefit of the liquefied natural gas is its low price. It is achieved by means of special technology that allows apply previously unused flow energy in the pipeline. Thus, the methane is liquefied practically without external (additional) energy expenditure, and, therefore, financial costs.
Astana as the capital of the Republic is the first to experience the absolute benefit of LNG technology. The main end users of the liquefied gas are industrial enterprises, household and municipal services, transport companies, sector of individual development.
The only difference of the liquefied natural gas from conventional methane - it is cooled to -161 degrees (liquefied) before the transportation. At the same time, it is cleared of excess impurities. Due to this purification, the qualitative indicators are increasing and at the end we will have gas of higher quality, in contrast to the pipeline gas.
Global Gas Group performs gasification of the enterprises which includes a full range of activities. The connection of the enterprises is performed “on a turn-key basis” with the execution of the following list of works:
LNG re-gasification complexes can be local, providing the gas supply of certain select facility. For this purpose, a local regasification station can be equipped directly on the territory of the enterprise. This method has several benefits:
Often, such end users are located at a considerable distance from the urban infrastructure and need not only heating and hot water, but also the electrical power.
Global Gas Group specialists offer a comprehensive implementation of the project for the installation of cogeneration gas turbine unit, the main task of which is a combined generation of thermal and electric energy.
The main benefit of the gas turbine plant is its self-contained and automated operation, as well as the operation of the entire energy supply system of the enterprise. Areas of application of this plant for industrial and household facilities are practically unlimited, and its capacities can be used as the main or reserve source of electric and thermal energy.
