Project Astana LNG 2020 received support by the Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Interest in the LNG product on the part of the authorities and the public, research and investment sector, is deepening day by day: the volume of liquid fuel production will grow worldwide till 2030 by 84%, new players are appearing in the market and Europe still considers LNG as one of the pillars of the future energy security (according to VostokCapital data).

On November 8, during the working visit of President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to Kostanay oblast a meeting was held on the issues of investment climate and potential of the region, within which the Head of State heard report from the Global Gas Group General Director, Oleg Goncharov, who talked about development of the program for gasification of Astana and Northern Kazakhstan regions with the use of the liquefied natural gas technology.

The gasification program implemented in Kazakhstan involves organization of full technological cycle needed to supply natural gas to the regions distant from the main gas pipeline. So, key attention in the report was paid to the project for construction of the complexes for production of low-tonnage liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the territory of the Republic. It is planned that the first complex will be located in Kostanay oblast.

The program that was presented by Oleg Goncharov was approved and supported by the Head of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. “I think, all options will be implemented, but LNG is very important to us”, the President said.

Note that shortly before the two countries leaders’ meeting, Kazakhstan and Russia, which took place on November 9 in Chelyabinsk, the Global Gas group also held talks with Gazprom PJSC about the construction of additional LNG production facilities, on the territory of the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk oblasts, within 2018, which will cover the needs of the enterprises and private sector in the blue efficient fuel. It is planned that the volume of Gazprom PJSC supplies to the Kazakhstan territory by 2021 will amount to 300 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas.
